Every spring The Wedding Shoppe hosts a Bridal Show at the Baranof Hotel in Juneau.  I found out about it by mere accident, being new to Juneau from Sitka and in dire need of help planning my wedding.  I showed up at this formal event in the clothes I wore on the ferry and moved furniture in all day.  I had my four-year-old tagging along beside me.  At 35, and in this condition, I looked like the most unlikely bride.

I went directly to the person who appeared to be in charge; a petite dark-haired dignified lady, whom I swarmed in a panic.  I don't recall my exact words, but I remember barraging Dolores with the details of my predicament (one month to plan my wedding, etc) and this soft-spoken beauty assured me she could help me.  We made plans to meet on Sunday at 9:00 in the morning at her shop.  It was some time later she confided in me that she wasn't convinced I'd even show up!

The next day, I had a beautiful three-piece bridal gown and veil that matched my personality perfectly!  I had nearly chosen all the other essentials for the wedding party, and I left her shop feeling confident that Dolores would take care of the details.

I was transformed from the ferry-riding-Alaskan-woman in carhartts into a beautiful bride that day.  My handsome groom was near perfect in the tuxedo that Don helped him choose.  Our wedding party was beautiful, especially my flower-girl daughter, Olivia.

The costs of their services were surprisingly reasonable.  It is hard to put a price on peace of mind and beautiful memories.

One year later, I am writing this with my newborn son in my arms.  So much has happened since I met the Garcia's.  as I approach my first anniversary, I have enjoyed reminiscing about my wedding day, May 5, 2001.

On behalf of the groom and his groomsmen, we would like to take a moment to thank you for your excellent service before our wedding. As you are well aware, planning a wedding is no small task and keeping track of every one of a thousand details can be maddening!

The Wedding Shoppe is the one and only store that stands out in our minds as having exemplary service. During the weeks before our wedding, it was extremely comforting to receive calls updating us on our deadlines, reminding us about our scheduled fitting sessions, and even to just let us know that our tuxedos had arrived. Having this one aspect of planning completely stress-free allowed us to redirect our energies to other, more pressing problems.
